Visit the website to pre-register your interest, or for those who are already pre-registered, complete your registration selecting excursions and social activities etc. The indicative program outline has a good mix of presentation sessions, excursions and social activities.Background information on Sicily, Mt Etna and the city of Catania and information on some of the caves proposed to be visited during excursions is also on the Website. The Symposium will be limited to a maximum of 80 participants.

20th International Symposium on Vulcanospeleology

Dak Nong UNESCO Global Geopark in Dak Nong Province, Vietnam

End of September to early October, 2022

Presentations - over a period of 1 to 3 days in provincial facilities at Gia Nghia (the provincial capital).
Excursions - to caves and sites of scientific, scenic or cultural interest. If the number of participants is large, the group may be split into 2 or 3 smaller groups. Possible evening activities include a party, a fireworks display and an ethnic cultural show. All these activities would be in the Dray Sap Special-Use Forest.

Anchialine refers to seawater flooded caves and groundwater along the coastlines of both volcanic as well as limestone terrain. The island of Spanish island of Lanzarote in the eastern Atlantic contains spectacular volcanic lava tubes on land as well as beneath the sea floor. The Atlantida tunnel cave is the world’s longest submarine lava tube and has been explored by cave divers for 1.6 km.
